{"id":3024,"date":"2020-06-10T17:49:25","date_gmt":"2020-06-10T15:49:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.resources-roots.com\/?p=3024\/"},"modified":"2020-06-10T18:25:00","modified_gmt":"2020-06-10T16:25:00","slug":"finland-recovery-under-uncertainties","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.resources-roots.com\/de\/finland-recovery-under-uncertainties\/","title":{"rendered":"Finland recovery under uncertainties"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Zurich, 10 June 2020<\/p>\n<h2><strong>The outlook\u00a0<\/strong>for the Finnish economy reshapes dynamic.<\/h2>\n<h3><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-3014\" src=\"https:\/\/www.resources-roots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Bank-of-fin.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"593\" height=\"302\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.resources-roots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Bank-of-fin.jpg 1104w, https:\/\/www.resources-roots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Bank-of-fin-624x318.jpg 624w, https:\/\/www.resources-roots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Bank-of-fin-768x391.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.resources-roots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Bank-of-fin-800x407.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 593px) 100vw, 593px\" \/><\/h3>\n<h4>Economy may contract by 7 per cent, unemployment rate expected to rise to 9 per cent.<\/h4>\n<p>The Bank of Finland on Tuesday announced it expects the national economy to contract by seven per cent this year due to the blow delivered by the coronavirus pandemic and take at least a couple of years to rebound to the levels before the crisis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA quick recovery is not looking particularly likely, and the total output will fall short of the level before the pandemic-induced crisis,\u201d it\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.suomenpankki.fi\/fi\/media-ja-julkaisut\/tiedotteet\/2020\/suomen-talous-toipuu-vahitellen-akkijarrutuksesta\/\">said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cThe economy is forecast to grow by around three per cent in 2021\u20132022.\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0Not all businesses, it added, will be capabily to confront the crisis.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cPermanent production losses are unlikely to be avoided<\/strong> in Finland. Economic policy making is nevertheless a way to have an impact on the scope of the losses,\u201d underlined Meri Ostbaum, the head of forecasting at the Bank of Finland.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Employment<\/strong> in Finland will according to the forecast decrease by roughly two percentage points in 2020\u20132021 before rebounding, only partly, in 2022. The unemployment rate is forecast to increase to 9.0 per cent this year and further to 9.3 per cent next year, before decreasing to 8.8 per cent in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>The Bank of Finland pointed out that the pandemic has resulted not only in a <strong>sharp decline in domestic demand and net exports<\/strong>, but also in a <strong>harmful structural shift<\/strong> by making the economy increasingly dependant on public demand.<\/p>\n<p>Foreign trade \u00a0will be not able to support economic growth during the forecasting period, as the outlook for exports remains pronouncedly muted due to a pandemic-induced lull in global investments and the eroding competitiveness of Finland.<\/p>\n<p>Uncertainties about the future will similarly inhibit increase in consumption and investments even after the lifting of restrictions.\u00a0<strong>The forecast is associated with substantial uncertainties,<\/strong> the central bank reminded.<\/p>\n<p>Its <strong>alternative scenarios<\/strong> suggest that the economy may contract <strong>only five per cent<\/strong> <strong>or as much as 11 per cent in 2020<\/strong>, depending on how the coronavirus epidemic progresses and how effectively it will be internationally brought under control.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Zurich, 10 June 2020 The outlook\u00a0for the Finnish economy reshapes dynamic.
